Lois Georgine (Roberts) Hudson

December 17, 1938 – July 4, 2014

Georgine has slipped the bonds of human frailty and safely rests in the arms of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, whom she has faithfully served since the age of 11.

She was born to George Monroe and Mary Belle (Hunt) Roberts in Durango, Colorado, joining her older sister Helen June.  She spent her childhood in Durango and graduated from Durango High School in 1957, at which time she became a switch board operator for an insurance and securities firm in Durango.  She married Vernon Hudson in 1959 and moved to Ridgway, Colorado, having the rare distinction of making a life for her husband and family, in the same home, for 55 years.

Georgine demonstrated her faith, love and concern tangibly by making herself available to whomever crossed her path.  She had the unique ability to ascertain needs without judgment and was always available to listen or counsel, no matter how busy or tired she might be.  She conducted Bible clubs for children and participated in numerous adult Bible studies over the years, until her health disallowed her continued involvement.  Only heaven will reveal the number of lives touched by her consistent influence.

She is survived by her husband of 55 years, Vernon, two daughters, Merilyn (Scott) Nicolas of Olathe, CO, Carolyn (Gary) Lindstrom of Nampa, Idaho, and a son Brad (Darlene) Hudson of Montrose, CO; nine grandchildren, Travis (Dawna), Shane and Wesley (Megan) Purdum, Mike (Sarah) and Kyle Nicolas;  Rachel (Joey) Pacheco, Joel Hudson; Lorae and Kiara Lindstrom; six great-grandchildren; a sister, Pat Freund of Citrus Heights, CA and a brother, Dan (Jackie) Roberts of Waddell, AZ, and numerous nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her father, mother and older sister.

Her passing leaves a huge hole in our lives, but for those of us who remain and personally know Christ, we rest in certain hope we will see her again.

A memorial celebration of Georgine’s life will be held at Montrose Presbyterian Church, 1840 East Niagara Rd. Montrose, CO 81401, Saturday July 12, 2014, 2:00 p.m.  In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions to Hope West Hospice, in memory of Georgine Hudson, P.O. Box 1804, Montrose, CO 81402.  Arrangements are under the direction of Crippin Funeral Home & Crematory, Montrose, Colorado.
