Kenneth Dale Flack, 67, was born January 2, 1948, to Harry L. and Davidena G. (Lunsford) Flack in Denver, Colorado.  He was called home to be in the presence of Our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on September 1, 2015.

His family lived in Lakewood until moving to Montrose when Ken’s father came to work on the Morrow Point Dam.  Ken graduated from Montrose High School in 1966.  During high school he was a member of the Montrose High School Band and received outstanding musician awards in both 1964 and 1965.  He was also active in the Colorado Youth Bowling Association and enjoyed this sport for another 25 years.

He graduated in 1969 from Southern Colorado State College in Pueblo with an Associate in Applied Science degree in Civil Engineering Technology.  It is here that he met and married his wife, Gay Lorraine.

He joined the United States Air force, and after serving a tour of duty in Vietnam, he was next stationed at F.E. Warren Air Force Base in Cheyenne, Wyoming, where he and his family lived until his retirement.  He served also in the Air National Guard for three years completing his time of military service.  Ken received the Air Force Commendation Medal and the Joint Service Commendation Medal as he also worked in conjunction with the Department of Defense Geodetic Survey Squadron Defense Mapping Agency Topographic Center.

Ken worked 18 years for the City of Cheyenne Engineering Department where he was responsible for the review of plans and plats in the planning application process.  He was a public works inspector, and he developed and wrote the computer program to enable the city map to be entered onto a computer system.

Ken worked the next 11 years for the State of Wyoming Lands and Investments Department as their supervising IT computer specialist.  He developed the Geographic Information System (GIS) to cover the state lands under the department’s jurisdiction.

Ken and his wife retired to Montrose in October, 2008, and Ken was appointed to the city of Montrose planning commission by the Montrose city Council in August, 2009.  He served a couple of years but did not return due to illness.

Ken was a loving devoted husband and father.  He is survived by his wife to whom he was married for 45 years, and by his daughter, Elisabeth, and numerous cousins and their families.  Ken enjoyed fishing, was a football fan, and he was active in and dedicated to serving at St. Stephen’s Anglican Church.
