Katherine R. Kastendieck was born May 10, 1928 to Alfred Alfonso and Jennie G. (Schecter) McCunniff in Olathe, Colorado. Katherine graduated from Montrose High School in 1946 and attended Barnes Business College in Denver, Colorado. She worked as a secretary for the Montrose County High School for two years until she began her family with Clifford. Katherine married Clifford Kastendieck July 14, 1948 at the Nazarene Church in Montrose, Colorado. Katherine then worked for Northside Elementary School until her retirement in 1988.

Katherine was a longtime member of the Nazarene Church where she had been very active all her life. She was the youngest of eight children. Katherine was preceded in death by her parents Alfred and Jennie McCunniff, son Melvin, two brothers, Ralph J. McCunniff and Alfred Raymond McCunniff; five sisters, Mildred Nash, Irene Stringer, Garnet Summers, Stella Curtis, and Opal Bookout.

Katherine is survived by her husband Clifford Kastendieck; three children, Darrell (Mary) Kastendieck, Karen (Robert) Flowers, Gary Kastendieck; 12 grandchildren, Jason (Jessica) Kastendieck, Jennifer (Wade) Goodwin, Justin (Hillary) Kastendieck, Janelle (Jarrad) Despres, Joshua (Emily) Kastendieck, Jacob (Sara) Kastendieck, Joseph Kastendieck, Janae Kastendieck, Kathryn Flowers, Amy Flowers, Shauna Sowerby, Andrew Lawton, 15 great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

There will be a visitation held for Katherine on Monday, January 11, 2016 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Crippin Funeral Home Chapel. There will be funeral service on Tuesday, January 12, 2016 at the Church of the Nazarene at 10:30 a.m. Arrangements are under the care of Crippin Funeral Home and Grand View Cemetery.
