Jaqueline Lee Reams (Hoover)

June 4, 1930 — August 31, 2017

Jaqueline Lee (Hoover) Reams went to be with the Lord on August 31, 2017. She was born June
4, 1930 in Stockton, Kansas. When she was 6 years old she moved with her family to the Blaine Homestead (Jackie’s grandparents) in the Haworth District of North Park near Gould,
Colorado. The family ran a dairy farm and fishing cabins until 1943. Jackie and her
sister Bette hand milked up to 15 cows before school each morning. The girls rode horseback to
attend school. Jackie met Neil Reams, her husband of 54 years, at the tiny one room country school house. When Jackie and her sister were old enough for high school the family moved to Walden, Colorado. Jackie also attended Colorado Women’s College in Denver and earned her degree. After marrying in 1950 and awaiting Neil’s discharge from the military, Neil and Jackie moved to Naturita in 1953 to join Neil’s parents at their newly acquired ranch on the San Miguel River in Naturita.
Jackie lived a full, rich life as a Wife, Mother, Grandmother, Great Grandmother, Homemaker,
School Bus Driver (33 years plus 1 day!), Substitute Teacher, Church Treasurer, Lion(ess),
Gardener, Canning, Meat Cutting, Swimming Instructor, Coin Collector, Scrapbooker, Bareback
Horsewoman and even Bull Riding (once). She was loved by many and never knew a stranger. She
was blessed with patience and compassion, as you would have to have both with that many kids
coming and going, and she loved every one of them the same. Jackie will be missed tremendously
and her death, although somewhat expected, in the years to come will be most heart breaking for
her loved ones.
Jackie is preceded in death by her husband, Neil, her parents, John William and Eunice Marie
Hoover and her brother, Glen Vernon Hoover. She is survived by a sister; Bette Lou Hoover-Cole, all
her children; Glenda Marie Cain of Grand Junction, Colorado; Nina Jane Reams of Grand Junction,
Colorado; Earl Byron (Ruth) Reams, II of Naturita, Colorado; and John William (Dianna) Reams of
Naturita, Colorado. She is also survived by 14 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren with 3 more
on the way.
A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 9, 2017 at the Trinity Baptist
Church in Naturita. Crippin Funeral Home in Montrose is overseeing arrangements. 970-249-2121
