James Jarvis

July 7, 1945 — April 7, 2016

James “The Legend” Jarvis July 7, 1945 passed away April 7, 2016

Jarvis, or “Jimmy” was born in Austin, Minnesota, to Howard and Edna Jarvis. He was their fourth child in a family of 6 children. His love of adventure and wildlife lead him to become the owner of Jim Jarvis Outfitting Service, and a well-known and highly respected bow hunter. Jarvis was the Outdoor Adventures Bow Hunter of the year in 1979 and 1980, and held the #14 Pope & Young Barren Ground Caribou record.

Jarvis’ love for his many friends, family and the great outdoors left behind a legend of colorful, wild adventures, filled will memories to last a lifetime.

Jarvis was preceded in death by his parents, Howard and Edna, his sisters Sharon and Carol, and his angel Carolyn. Outside of too many great friends to mention, he is survived by wife, Annie Velasquez, sisters Judy and Joanne; brother Tom; his children Jason, Joan and Jennifer; 8 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.

A celebration of life will be held Saturday, April 16 at 11:00am at Crippin Funeral Home located at 802 E. Main St. An after party will follow at Town Hall Tavern in Montrose. Say goodbye with friends in true Jarvis fashion.
