J.C. Rigdon, Jr., 85, passed away 05/05/2017. J.C. was born 05/29/1931 to James Cloyd and Anna Halsey Rigdon in Springer, New Mexico and spent his childhood in the Springer and Clayton, New Mexico area and then later in Delta, Colorado. J.C. met Twyla Faynelle Shultz in Albuquerque, New Mexico. They were married 06/15/1951 and enjoyed 61 years of marriage until her death in 2012.
He loved the Lord, was a strong Christian, and worshipped with the Montrose and Olathe churches of Christ.
He was a veteran of the Korean War. During his life, J.C. was a truck driver as well as working as an assessor for the Montrose County Assessor’s office.
J.C. and Faynelle loved children. Throughout their lifetime, they were foster parents and then operated the Ponderosa Youth Ranch which served the needs of many adolescent boys in conflict with law and family. In all, the Rigdons worked with over 200 children.

Cheryl Lynn Rigdon, deceased at 6 days of life. Her memory always saddened him.
J.C. has 11 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hope West Hospice, 725 S. 4th street, Montrose, CO., 81401. Graveside Services are planned for May, 20, 2017, 11:00 a.m., at Grand View Cemetery, west of Montrose. Military Honors ceremony and family reunion is scheduled for 07/03/2017, 10:00 a.m., at Grand View Cemetery. Crippin Funeral Home & Crematory in Montrose is assisting the family.
