Irene B. Kinion, longtime resident of Norwood, and later years resided in Montrose, passed away Thursday afternoon, July 9, 2015 at the age of 91.

Irene was born January 4, 1924 to Robert and Oda Alexander in Telluride. She was the third child of seven children.  Irene attended school in Telluride for the first two grades, and when family moved she attended school in Shenandoah, graduating from the 8th grade in 1935.  In the fall of 1936, Irene started high school in Norwood.  She was a cheerleader for three years, editor of the school newspaper and a flag bearer for the high school band.

In March 1938, she met the love of her life, Floyd (Chip) Kinion.  They were married on June 8, 1941 celebrated 67 years of marriage, before Chip died in October of 2007.

Irene loved her family and friends as well as boating, fishing and picnicing.  She was a great cook, an excellent seamstress, and a talented cake decorator.  Irene was a member of the Rebekah Lodge for over 65 years.  She and Chip would fly south for the cold months to Yuma, Arizona for many years.

Irene is survived by three sons, Frank Kinion of Montrose, Darrel Kinion of Yuma, Arizona and David (Cathy) Kinion of Masonville, Colorado, as well as two daughters, Cheryl Oliver of Paso Robles, California and Roberta (Ron) Warne of Moorpark, California.

Irene is survived by two sisters, Helen Heald of Grand Junction, Colorado and Betsy Davis of Norwood, Colorado as well as one brother Kirk (Kathleen) Alexander of Norwood, Colorado; nine grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren as well as numerous nieces and nephews;

Irene was very loved by family and friends and will be greatly missed. There will be a celebration of her life in September 2015.  Date and place to be announced later.  Memorial contributions may be made to the Olathe Rebekah Lodge #99, for the scholarship Fund, P.O. Box 99, Olathe, Co. 81425.  Crippin Funeral Home & Crematory, Montrose, Colorado is assisting the family.
