Herman A. Lear age 92 passed away peacefully with his loving family by his side, early Thursday afternoon, May 28, 2015 at The Homestead at Montrose.

Herman was born October 11, 1922 to Abram and Edna Mae (Dismore) Lear in Monon, Indiana.  He spent his childhood in the Monon and Wolcott, Indiana area, where he attended school. Spending much of his time working on the family farm.

Herman married the love of his life Mary Hancock on March 10, 1946. Herman and Mary had celebrated 69 years of marriage this last March. Herman loved nothing more than “testifying” about his old barn experience where he found Christ.  He attended Olivet Nazarene College to acquire his ministerial license, and was a lay preacher for many years.  He is a member of the First Church of the Nazarene

Herman’s pride & joy was his farm. He loved the great outdoors, and was an avid hunter and loved to fish. He enjoyed reminiscing about his hunting tales, and spending time eating homemade ice cream with his buddies.

Survivors include his beloved wife Mary of the family home, his son Gary Lear of Sturgeon, Mo, and his daughter Carolyn Cohick of Montrose. Herman is also survived by 1 brother, as well as 7 grandchildren, and 18 great-grandchildren.

A visitation for family & friends will be held Sunday, May 31, 2015 from 4:00 to 7:00 pm at the Crippin Funeral Home Chapel. A funeral service in loving honor of Herman will be held Monday, June 1, 2015 at 10:00 am at The First Church of the Nazarene, with burial to follow at Grand View Cemetery, west of Montrose. Crippin Funeral Home is assisting the family with the arrangements
