Gregory K. Catlin, 61
Gregory Keith Catlin, 61, a lifelong resident of Montrose, Colorado, passed away
peacefully on Friday, October 13, 2017 at Montrose Memorial Hospital. He was
born on October 21, 1955, to Marcus Keith Catlin and Donna (Robinson) Catlin.
Greg graduated from Montrose High School in 1974 and began his career as a
farmer. Throughout his time farming, Greg served on several local agricultural
boards and was a voice for the farming community. In March of 2017, Greg was
recognized by the Shavano Conservation District and received the 2016 “Farmer
of the Year” award in recognition of his efforts to improve soil quality and water
conservation.
When he was not plowing the land, irrigating, or harvesting, he enjoyed spending
time with family, teasing his grandchildren, listening to music, and spending
summer Sundays boating on the lake.
He is survived by his partner and wife of 17 years, Martha (Morgan) Catlin of
Montrose; four children, Meghan (Zach) Watts of Sedalia, Karson (Tate) Brown
of Fort Collins, Roy Catlin of Castle Rock and Hannah Catlin of Centennial; five
grandchildren, Wesley, Gavin, Arianna, Izabella and Eisley; his father and mother
Marcus Keith Catlin and Donna (Robinson) Catlin of Montrose; brother Marcus
W. (Kerri) Catlin; nephews Keith W. Catlin, Marcus H. Catlin; niece Kelli Catlin;
step children Dusty (Arin) Moots, Gary Bryson, and Tim Bryson; as well as 12
step-grandchildren and many more cousins.
His stepdaughter, Desarae Jones, preceded him in death.
The celebration of life will be held on Monday, October 23, at 10:00 a.m. at the
Montrose United Methodist Church, 19 S. Park Ave, with Pastor Lisa Petty
officiating. Graveside service will follow at the Cedar Cemetery with a potluck
luncheon reception to follow at the Baldridge event room at the United Methodist
Church. Arrangements are under the care of Crippin Funeral Home and
Crematory.
