Gari Mae Pauli

November 3, 1957 ~ December 13, 2015

Gari Mae Pauli, age 58, took the Lord’s hand when he called on December 13, 2015 at San Juan Living Center in Montrose.  Gari was born November 3, 1957 to Minel Mike and Elvie Mae (Johnson) Paul in Montrose, Colorado.  Gari attended Mesa State College where she was studying to be a radiology technician.

In 1993 Gari received the “ Make a Difference in Colorado “ Volunteer Award from the Bureau of Land Management.

Gari was also employed by the BLM for many years.  She always had a love for animals and cared for many cats over the years. She would refer to her cats as her kids. They missed her when she had to go to the nursing home but would meow and purr when they would hear Gari’s voice over the phone.

When Gari’s mom was diagnosed with a terminal illness, Gari stepped in and was her moms constant caregiver and companion .

Gari loved the Lord and was a faithful member of Trinity Reformed Presbyterian Church since 1989. Her presence each Sunday at worship will be missed.

Gari had many friends and great neighbors that would help her out when needed. This was such a blessing to her. Her family and friends are grateful to those at San Juan Living Center, Grand Mesa Oncology and Hope West Hospice for their love and care for Gari. The staff at SJLC made her feel like a princess in her last months. She was enjoying the food, care and companionship from all of them.

Gari lived 116 days after being diagnosed with cancer. She battled cancer with hope, faith, dignity and her wonderful sense of humor.

A Celebration of Gari’s life will be held on Wednesday, December 30, 2015 at 10:00 A.M. at Trinity Reformed Presbyterian Church on Sunnyside Road in Montrose.  The service will conclude at the church. Crippin Funeral Home & Crematory, in Montrose, is assisting the family.
