Mrs. Evelyn C. (Woodson) Valencia, born September 18, 1942 in Saguache, CO. Evelyn went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, December 27, 2017 in Montrose, CO. Evelyn was a long time resident of Montrose, CO. She was a beloved wife to Alfred Valencia for 50 years. The loving mother of Gina (Raul) Perez; Henry Valencia; Tommy (Christine) Valencia; Freddie (Angie) Valencia; Donna Valencia; Debbie Valencia; Dolores (Alejandro) Valencia. She was the grandmother to 23 grandchildren, and 24 great- grandchildren.
Evelyn was the daughter of Mike and Ruby Woodson, the sister of Marian, Siria, Rose, Gloria, and Frank. Evelyn is also survived by many other loving nieces and nephews, and relatives. Evelyn is preceded in death by her parents Mike and Ruby Woodson, her son Virgil Valencia (Valerie – surviving wife) and siblings Condie, Mike, Placido, Florence, Madelyn, and Barbara.
Evelyn retired after 28 years of working at Valley Manor Care Center. She enjoyed spending time with her family, she was a mother not only to her own children, but to her grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She had a passion for the outdoors, picking pinion, fishing, camping and looking for arrowheads. She also enjoyed gambling, and attended Pow Wow’s.
Relatives and friends are invited to celebrate her life at Grace Community Church at 16731 Woodgate Road, Montrose, CO, on Saturday, January 6th, 2018 at 1:00 p.m. Crippin Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
