Carolyn J. Brooks, age 81, went to be with the Lord in the early morning of Friday, August 11, 2017, at Colorow Care Center. Carolyn was born October 21, 1935 to Bert and Hazel (Lloyd) Topliss in Montrose, Colorado. She grew up and graduated from Montrose High School and pursued an English degree from Western State Collage and made a career as a teacher. In June of 1957 Carolyn married the love of her life James Thomas Brooks Jr., they spent 26 years of marriage. Carolyn was a strong Christian woman who was a true servant of the Lord and enjoyed giving her life to her Lord and Savior, her family, and the people of Montrose community. Carolyn was a prayer warrior who focused on obeying the Lords will and wanting to let everyone know about the love of God.
Carolyn is survived by her children Faith Warner of Broomfield, CO Valerie (Gordon) DuBeau of Gillette, WY, Thomas (Kelly) Brooks of Watford City, ND ; her brother Dan Topliss of Montrose, CO; six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and two nieces and nephews. Carolyn is preceded in death by her husband James Brooks; her parents Bert and Hazel Topliss; and her brother Lloyd Topliss. Carolyn has been welcomed into Jesus’ arms at the gates of Heaven.
There will be “Celebration of Carolyn’s Life” Funeral Service on Saturday, August 19, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at Grace Community Church with burial to follow at Grand View Cemetery.
