Aloma Napua Bower (Nahinu)

Aloma Napua Bower, a resident of Montrose, Colorado, died June 15, 2016 at her home at the age of 49. Aloma was born August 19, 1966 to John and Lillian (Cazimero) Nahinu at Camp Le Jeune, North Carolina.

Aloma moved to the Big Island of Hawaii as a young child. She attended classes at Santa Rosa Junior College in California where she received an Associate’s Degree in Humanities and an additional degree in Social and Behavioral Sciences. She used those degrees to good affect at the Intervention Community Corrections Service for the last two years. Prior to that Aloma worked at Starbucks where many customers appreciated her memory of everyone’s drink and the ability to make a perfect latte every time.

Aloma met Peter Edward Bower while he served in the United States Coast Guard in Hawaii. They were married in 1984 and welcomed two children, Ryan and Patrick Bower, 29 and 28 years old, of Ft. Collins, Colorado. The family moved frequently throughout their marriage as Pete served 30 years with the Coast Guard before his retirement. Aloma and Pete moved to Montrose in 2011 where they made their home until her untimely death.

Aloma was famous for hugs that squeezed all your worries away and for baking amazing island treats. Her family was everything to her. Memorial services will be held in Hawaii at a later date. Crippin Funeral Home and Crematory in Montrose is assisting the family.
