Alice C. Watson, died on Nov 16, 2017. She was a resident at Crossroads Senior Living Center at the time of her passing. Alice was born in Cedaredge on January 8, 1920. Her parents, Frank and Polly Hirt raised her on a fruit and cattle ranch just north of the city. She graduated from Cedaredge High School and attended Colorado Woman’s College.
She married Ray Watson in 1939. They lived in Oklahoma for 16 years while Ray operated a dairy in Edmund and later a dry goods store in Maud. Alice and Ray were long-time residents of Montrose having returned to Colorado in 1955. He worked as a science teacher and junior high principal. Alice worked for many years as a secretary for the Montrose public schools.
She was preceded in death by Ray (2014). Her surviving children are Judith C. Cockle of Ridgway, CO and Robert R Watson of Grand Junction. Also surviving are 3 grand-children and 5 great grand-children.
