Aaron D. Rowan (Joe)
August 18, 1960- April 30, 2017
Aaron D. Rowan, 56, passed away early Sunday morning April 30, 2017 in his home with his daughter, son, and sister in law by his side in Olathe, CO.
Aaron was born in Montrose, Colorado on August 18, 1960 to Rick and Carla Rowan. In his early childhood he lived in Moab, Utah where I remember him telling of stories of playing baseball and riding in his dad’s dune buggy. The family moved back to Colorado where he spent the rest of his childhood. He grew up helping with the family ranches herding sheep from Montrose to Lake City to Silverton. He felt the most at home in the mountains. He graduated from Montrose high school in 1978. He was active in FFA and high school rodeo where he rode broncs’ and bull’s. After high school, he worked in the mines in Nevada and Colorado. Aaron married Doris Newby on November 28, 1982, they had two children together A.J and Shyla. Aaron and his brother Zane would stick together as they chased work from Colorado to Arizona and California. Aaron and Doris would get divorced, but stayed lifelong friends. Aaron enjoyed hunting and fishing with his family. Aaron spent his final years in Montrose where he battled chronic heart failure and other illness’s. Even after a severe heart attack that almost took his life he spent every hour he could having fun with his grandchildren who adored him so much. Aaron will be truly missed as he was the definition of a true family man.
Aaron was preceded in death by his grandparents George and Maxine Rowan, Emery and Beatrice Holman, father Rick Rowan, Uncle Dennis Rowan, Uncle Jerry Holman, Uncle Pat Kavanaugh.
Aaron is survived by mother Carla Rowan, sister Tawna Caddy and husband Keith Caddy, sister Sonya Scott and husband Larry Scott, brother Zane Rowan and wife Lori Rowan, daughter Shyla Standish and Husband Scott Standish, son A.J Rowan and wife Anna Rowan, and grandchildren Rylan, Griffin, and Cooper Standish, Indi Taylor and Natally Bolinger
